Claire Forest, PhD
Dr. Claire Forest has guided thousands of people to discover and live their unique gifts. While on the Cornell University faculty she launched the National Family Development Credential Program (FDC), then in 2010 was invited to move FDC to University of CT’s CHHD (Center for the Study of Culture, Health & Human Development).
Dr. Forest wrote FDC’s curriculum Empowerment Skills for Family Workers (updated 2015; University Press of NewEngland). Through National FDC she has trained and continues to lead an ever-growing cadre 15,000+ coaches to use her proven methods. Dr. Forest earned a PhD in Adult & Extension Education from Cornell University (2009), focused on transformative learning and social justice.
Prior to FDC she was a wilderness guide, mindfulness teacher, beekeeper, raspberry farmer, ordained universal minister. She is ever mother to her cherished, inspiring sons. She draws deeply from the sacred well of her ancestral Celtic heritage, especially her love of the forest. Dr. Claire brings her remarkable skill and intuition to helping people of all backgrounds dive into their own cultural and spiritual heritages to find healing, inspiration, peace, and commitment to discover and bring their unique gifts to our changing world.
While continuing to lead National FDC, today Dr. Claire feels called to respond to the unprecedented changes swirling in so many people’s lives, by allocating one day each week to also offering individual life coaching through her Bright Forest™ Center, books, one-day retreats, and life coaching via telephone, Skype, and email.
